Visit a miracle

Miracles seem to be hard to come by these days, but their evidence still abounds if you know where to look. A miracle never should be taken lightly, especially when it is prayed for ceaselessly. One such miracle happened in Umbria in the 17th century, and Umbria has never forgotten.
Donna Eleonora De Mendoza, the wife of Duke Fulvio Della Corgna, was ailing with cancer. Despite treatments and consultation, the cancer seemed incurable. Terrified and desperate for a cure the royal family of Castigliano began praying to Saint Dominic, whom Donna considered her patron. She also placed 15 hot buttons on her arm, removing the diseased flesh and ending her peril.
In thanks for this miracle, Duke Fulvio erected the beautiful and ostentatious church of San Domenico. This church stands in all its original glory and splendor to this day, with block wooden ceiling, a Madonna and child oil painting, and niches with the original angelic statues.
This site and the uncountable others in Castigliano Del Lago and Umbria are more than a reason to visit the town; they’re a reason to stay. Stay in style and check out this villa offer from Interhome.
